Maria Tzitiridou
Maria Tzitιridou is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Neonatology in the Department of Midwifery at the School of Health Sciences at the University of Western Macedonia. She is a specialist in Pediatrics and has specialized in Pediatric Intensive Care and Neonatal Intensive Care. She has received further training in Pediatrics and Developmental Pediatrics in Germany, initially specializing in Pediatrics at the Pediatric Clinic and Pediatric Polyclinic of the “Dr. von Haunerschen” of Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich. In April 2010, she received the subspecialty “Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care” at the Neonatology Clinic of the Hippocrates Hospital. In May 2006, she received the Diploma in Electroencephalography from the German Society for Electroencephalography, which is part of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology. She holds a Doctorate from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki with a grade of “Excellent” since 2012 for: “The effect of long-term antiepileptic treatment on cognitive functions and concentration in children”. The subject area (field of knowledge) covered by the thesis is: “Idiopathic Epilepsy – Cognitive Deficits – Learning Functions in Children.” Maria Tzitiridou has developed a research interest in published research and scientific work in reputable peer-reviewed scientific journals in the cognitive field of Neonatology – Pediatrics, with a particular focus on etiology, clinical symptomatology, diagnostic approach, therapeutic treatment, and prevention in the broader fields of Pediatrics-Pediatric Neurology, neurodevelopment, breast milk, general development, maternal post-traumatic stress, microbiome and metabolic syndrome and their long-term complications in adulthood, as well as long-term developmental monitoring of newborns after discharge from the Neonatal Unit. Maria Tzitιridou has attended numerous Greek and international medical conferences and has served as a reviewer. Her scientific work includes publications in international and Greek medical journals, the authorship of chapters in medical textbooks, and the co-editing of five medical textbooks.
